That's a Wrap

Just wrapping up the 2014 West Seattle Outdoor Movies.  It was our biggest season (10th!) yet, with approximately 2,300 people in attendance over the six-week series.   Not only does the WSOM offer another free community event, but we were also able to help our local charities through the sale of concessions and raffle tickets.      

Gravity, July 19^th    $244 raised for the West Seattle and White Center Food Banks

Spice World, July 26^th $302 raised for Furry Faces Foundation and Animal Aid and Rescue Foundation

Sleepless in Seattle, August 2^nd $258 raised for the Loghouse Museum (Southwest Seattle Historical Society)

Blues Brothers,  August 9^th $373 raised for the West Seattle Helpline

Goonies, August 16^th $399 raised for Youngstown Cultural Arts Center

Frozen, August 23^rd $513 raised for West Side Baby

Total:  $2,089 for charity!

Frozen! Saturday, August 23rd

Join us for the final (sniff!!) movie of the season - Frozen.  We'll have a FREE community BBQ,  Seattle Balloon Arts (balloon man - cool), concessions, raffles, and an all-around awesome evening.

Gates at 6:30PM.  Bring your friends, family and singing voice!

Charity is WestSide Baby - bring a pack of diapers and receive 3 FREE raffle tickets.  

The Goonies - Saturday August 16th

Look!  It's The Goonies this Saturday.  Join us for a campy 1985 flick.  Usual treats from the concession stand, and rad raffles.  All proceeds going to Youngstown Arts.   Gates at 6:30pm.  FREE.

Seen! Spice Girls in West Seattle

"Zigazig-ah! We had a blast at the West Seattle Outdoor Movies: Spice World! Each week they play a different movie AND fundraise for a different nonprofit, this week we got to meet Furry Faces Foundation! They're doing great things in the community; keeping pets with they're owners and out of shelters. Couldn't have had a better Saturday then with the Spice Girls, 90s music, and a swimsuit fashion show! Check out lovely swimwear designed byBonsoir Bella. Thank so much Lora! #SpiceWorld"

Fantastic first movie for the season with Sandra getting her sh*t together.   Light rain towards the end of the movie didn't stop the crowds from packing up, true Seattlies.

Next up, Spice World on Saturday, July 26th.  Gates at 6:30pm.  Free photo booth and fashion show.

Getting Ready

Just a reminder the West Seattle Outdoor Movies start next month (Saturday, July 19th).  Our three tips for an enjoyable outdoor movie:

1.  Bring some food!  Heck, bring some for the folks sitting next to you.  Never know who you'll meet.

2.  Bring a low beach chair, don't hog the view with giant loungers.  If you are a lounger person, sit in the back to be double-sweet.

3.  Bring some cash for the raffle!  We have tons of local merchants donating gift cards and swag at every movie.  All proceeds go to charity.
